How To Stand Out on the Shelf

It is easy to argue that the online shopping has taken much of the focus away from the high streets, but the fact is a good majority of customers enjoy the process of visiting a store and seeing the physical product for themselves. For this reason, it has never been more important for manufacturers to ensure that their products stand out on the shelves.

But just how do manufacturers ensure that their products are purchased amongst such competition?

Know What Your Audience Wants

This step should be taken far before the product finds its way onto shelves and should form the basis of the work of manufacturers. Solid research will allow producers to identify exactly who their audience base is, helping to make informed decisions over what it is that customers actually want. Surveying and polls conducted by target demographics are a great start and will ensure that targeting is concise and relevant.

Understand What Your Competitors Are Doing Well

No one wants to copy their competitors, but in understanding what marketing tricks are working for their competitors, they are able to make informed decisions about their strategy moving forward. Good market research is heavily involved in what works for others involved in the industry, and for many the trick is not only understanding what their competitors are doing well, but also what they are not doing at all.

Offer Something More

More than anything, customers want to see that the product they are purchasing offers them something more than the other products on offer. Whether this be a competition or recipe ideas on the packaging, or other promotional material, it is additions like this that really set products apart from their rivals, particularly when products are of similar quality and price.
